1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Stewartville High School girls volleyball team on winning
1.3the 2019 State High School Class AA girls volleyball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Stewartville volleyball team was one of eight teams that participated in the
1.72019 State High School Class AA girls volleyball tournament on November 7-9, 2019; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Annandale 3-0 in the quarterfinals and Concordia 3-2 in the
1.9semifinals, they defeated the defending champion North Branch Vikings 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 25-16,
1.1023-25, 15-12) in the final match of the tournament at Xcel Energy Center to win the state
1.11championship, their first since 2014; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Tigers finished the season with an outstanding 30-4 record; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14congratulations are extended to the members of the Stewartville High School girls volleyball team
1.15for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.19Stewartville High School.
