1.10WHEREAS, those in public office need an uncommon dedication to meet the demands
1.11upon their time, resources, and talents; and
1.12WHEREAS, in the history of the Minnesota Senate, there have been countless Senators
1.13who have left a heritage of noble deeds, thoughts, and acts; and
1.14WHEREAS, in their endeavors to legislate for the public good of this state, they strove to
1.15represent fairly the rights of the people; and
1.16WHEREAS, their spirits continually challenge, enlighten, and encourage those who remain
1.17to honestly and diligently exercise the work of the government for the public good; and
1.18WHEREAS, Senators of today take courage and inspiration from those noble servants of
1.19another time who believed it was better to serve than to be served; and
1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.21it recognizes the tremendous contributions of the following deceased Senators: the Honorable
1.22Peter P. Stumpf, 1975-1982, the Honorable Conrad M. Vega, 1977-1986, the Honorable Karl F.
1.23Grittner, 1959-1970, the Honorable Linda Scheid, 1997-2011, the Honorable Douglas H. Sillers,
1.241973-1980, the Honorable Gary W. Kubly, 2003-2012, and the Honorable Gary M. DeCramer,
1.251983-1992. Their dedication to the public good is a source of inspiration to, and is worthy of
1.26emulation by, their present-day colleagues.
1.27BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.28enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.29Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to appropriate relatives
1.30of those commemorated by this resolution.
