1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Edina High School robotics team on winning the 2022
1.3State High School FIRST robotics championship.
1.4WHEREAS, the Edina robotics team participated in the 2022 State High School FIRST
1.5robotics tournament on May 7, 2022, at the University of Minnesota Williams Arena; and
1.6WHEREAS, the 2022 State High School FIRST robotics tournament was titled RAPID
1.7REACT and was presented by the Boeing Company. Teams were tasked to use innovative
1.8engineering, creative thinking, and teamwork to reimagine the future of safe, high-speed travel and
1.9lightning-fast deliveries to propel the next evolution of transportation forward; and
1.10WHEREAS, the Edina Green Machine formed a winning alliance with the teams from
1.11Greenbush-Middle River and Becker to defeat the alliance from Breck School, Irondale, and Rocori
1.1296-93 in the first finals match and 136-112 in the second finals match of the tournament to win the
1.13state championship. This was the first state championship title for the Edina Green Machine; and
1.14WHEREAS, the Edina robotics team adds the 2022 state championship to their growing list
1.15of accomplishments that includes winning the World Championship Chairman's Award in 2019
1.16and being inducted into the FIRST Hall of Fame. The Edina Green Machine won the Chairman's
1.17Award for their STEM advocacy at the Minnesota Capitol with Senator López Franzen and at the
1.18United States Capitol with the FIRST National Advocacy Conference; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.20congratulations are extended to the members of the Edina High School robotics team for their
1.21ingenuity and skill.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.24Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Edina High School
1.25robotics team.
