1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the University of Minnesota women's hockey team on winning the 1.32015 NCAA women's hockey championship. 1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our colleges teach the principles of sportsmanship and 1.5fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and 1.6WHEREAS, the Minnesota Gophers hockey team was one of eight teams that participated 1.7in the 2015 NCAA women's hockey tournament on March 14-22, 2015; and 1.8WHEREAS, after beating Rochester Institute of Technology 6-2 in the quarterfinals and 1.9Wisconsin 3-1 in the semifinals, the Gophers defeated Harvard 4-1 in the final game of the 1.10tournament at Ridder Arena to win the national championship, their third in the last four years; and 1.11WHEREAS, the Gophers finished the season with an outstanding 34-3-4 record; and 1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that 1.13congratulations are extended to the members of the University of Minnesota women's hockey 1.14team for their sportsmanship, skill, and championship season. 1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.16enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.17Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the University of 1.18Minnesota women's hockey team.
