1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Federal Ammunition of Anoka on its 100th anniversary
1.3WHEREAS, on April 27, 1922, Charles Horn purchased the Federal Cartridge and Machine Company
1.4that has been manufacturing ammunition on the same premises for the past 100 years; and
1.5WHEREAS, Federal Ammunition's current workforce of 1,500 employees in Anoka, Minnesota,
1.6carry on a rich history, tradition, and culture of manufacturing high-quality, innovative products in the United
1.7States; and
1.8WHEREAS, Federal Ammunition has been a strong supporter of its home city of Anoka, the Anoka
1.9County area, and the state of Minnesota for the past 100 years by employing tens of thousands of hard-working
1.10Minnesotans with jobs that support the company's mission of manufacturing innovative, high-quality
1.11ammunition in the United States. The company thereby supports and creates communities of hunters and
1.12shooters, provides a powerful defense to our country, and conserves American heritage; and
1.13WHEREAS, Federal Ammunition employees understand the traditions of owning and using a firearm
1.14for recreational shooting and hunting while also working to ensure that our natural resources are safeguarded;
1.15and
1.16WHEREAS, Federal Ammunition is a large part of the firearm and ammunition industry that has
1.17contributed nearly three billion dollars to Minnesota's economy in 2021 and has supported nearly 12,000
1.18jobs; and
1.19WHEREAS, Federal Ammunition has been a major contributor to wildlife and conservation efforts
1.20through paying the Pittman-Robertson excise tax levied on firearms and ammunition; and
1.21WHEREAS, Federal Ammunition has supported law enforcement and the military by running the
1.22Twin Cities Ordnance Plant since its groundbreaking in August of 1941, producing billions of rounds of
1.23ammunition, and employing thousands of workers in support of World War II, the Korean War, and the
1.24Vietnam War. Law enforcement agencies worldwide have trusted Federal Ammunition to manufacture
1.25high-quality, innovative ammunition that protects the safety of citizens and officers; and
1.26WHEREAS, current and past employees celebrate a century of Federal Ammunition's continuous
1.27and successful operation in Anoka; and
1.28WHEREAS, on April 27, 2022, organizations, businesses, and partners in the Anoka community
1.29will gather to recognize Federal Ammunition Day and to recognize our law enforcement, military, and
1.30recreational shooters and hunters who have used Federal Ammunition's products over the past 100 years;
1.31NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that Federal
1.32Ammunition's 100th Anniversary Day is​ celebrated on this day, April 27, 2022, by the Senate and the state
1.33of Minnesota.
1.34BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an enrolled
1.35copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the Senate
1.36Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Federal Ammunition.
