1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Erica Schmidt of Maplewood for receiving the Girl Scout
1.3Gold Award.
1.4WHEREAS, Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, helping girls
1.5to reach their full potential, develop positive values, and contribute to the improvement of society
1.6through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others; and
1.7WHEREAS, to earn the highest award given by the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., the Gold
1.8Award, a Girl Scout in high school must complete leadership journeys that help her discover her
1.9interests, connect with others, and take action to make the world a better place. She must then
1.10complete a comprehensive and sustainable take action project that uses her talent and passion to
1.11positively impact her community; and
1.12WHEREAS, Erica Schmidt is a serving and responsible member of Troop 50876 and has
1.13completed all requirements necessary to earn the Gold Award; and
1.14WHEREAS, Erica's Gold Award project, entitled Career Exploration, involved contacting
1.15professionals and asking them to fill out a profile about their career, including salary range,
1.16education requirements, and other interesting aspects of their field; putting the profiles in a book
1.17with information about majors offered at local colleges and universities; and donating the books
1.18to seven high schools in the area for students to explore possible career options; and
1.19WHEREAS, she will receive the Gold Award at a Recognition Ceremony; and
1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.21congratulates Erica Schmidt for receiving the Girl Scout Gold Award.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.24Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Erica Schmidt.
