1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office on the occasion of 1.3Taiwan's 112th National Day. 1.4WHEREAS, the Minnesota Senate wishes to extend its sincere well wishes to the Taipei 1.5Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago in acknowledgment of Taiwan's 112th National Day; 1.6and 1.7WHEREAS, this day marks an exceptional milestone in the history of Taiwan, one of which 1.8commemoration is necessary. On October 10, 1911, the Qing Dynasty was overthrown, which put 1.9an end to 2,000 years of imperial rule in China. As a result, the Republic of China was established, 1.10becoming the first republic to form in Asia and helping its people to move into a modern era; and 1.11WHEREAS, Taiwan can be proud to claim a citizenry who are not afraid of change, but who 1.12welcome it, and their willingness to temper new ideas with the wisdom gained from past experiences 1.13to achieve true progress is an example worthy of emulation. Indeed, they have built on the best 1.14traditions of the past to ensure the years to come are filled with hope and promise, and the enduring 1.15bond between our two populations is a testament to that future; NOW, THEREFORE, 1.16BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that celebrates Taiwan's rich 1.17cultural history, traditions, and accomplishments. 1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a copy 1.19of this resolution, to be authenticated by his signature and that of the Chair of the Senate Rules and 1.20Administration Committee, and transmit it to Director General Dennis Y.F. Lei.
