1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending Superintendent John Schultz for more than 35 years of dedicated
1.3service to the education profession.
1.4WHEREAS, a member of the teaching profession must believe in the ability of all students
1.5to learn; and
1.6WHEREAS, a caring, enthusiastic, and skilled educator is a major factor in establishing a
1.7good learning environment and an educator must be a model of good deportment and moral character,
1.8as so many students learn by example; and
1.9WHEREAS, besides imparting knowledge, educators are called upon to motivate their
1.10students to learn and to develop their communication and social skills for the world that exists
1.11beyond the four walls of the classroom; and
1.12WHEREAS, John Schultz began his teaching career as a junior high science instructor before
1.13becoming a district-wide science coordinator and eventually taking the role of Edina Public Schools
1.14Superintendent, from which he will depart following the 2020-2021 school year; and
1.15WHEREAS, John will begin his well-earned retirement on June 30, 2021, after over 35 years
1.16of service to the profession, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and a passion for education and
1.17learning; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19commends John Schultz for his many years of dedication and commitment.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
1.21copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the
1.22Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to John Schultz.
