1.2honoring Kari Jaeger on being named Educator of the Year. 1.3WHEREAS, a member of the teaching profession must be a caring and committed person 1.4who believes in the ability of all students to learn; and 1.5WHEREAS, Kari Jaeger, described by her nominators as dedicated, creative, accomplished, 1.6and outstanding, began student teaching at Hastings High School in 1998 prior to her graduation 1.7from the University of Minnesota-Morris; and 1.8WHEREAS, Kari has taught English at Hastings High School for 20 years and is a student 1.9favorite, setting high expectations to prepare young minds for a bright future; and 1.10WHEREAS, in addition to teaching, she leads the school newspaper, the feminism club, and 1.11has led Hastings Reads for 12 years; and 1.12WHEREAS, in 2015, she was selected by her colleagues for Hastings Teacher of the Year 1.13and went on to be a semifinalist for Minnesota's Teacher of the Year; and 1.14WHEREAS, in 2017, she was awarded the Bernie McCoy Service Award for her exemplary 1.15service to the Hastings community; and 1.16WHEREAS, most recently she has dedicated herself to being an active leader in Hastings 1.17Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Initiative; and 1.18WHEREAS, based on these outstanding qualities, Kari was named Educator of the Year by 1.19the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce; and 1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it 1.21congratulates Kari Jaeger on being named Educator of the Year and commends her for her many 1.22years of dedication and commitment to her school and community. 1.23BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.24enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.25Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Kari Jaeger.
