1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Brendan Henehan for his outstanding career in public broadcasting.
1.3WHEREAS, since December 7, 1984, Twin Cities Public Television has produced and
1.4broadcast the iconic public affairs show, Almanac, each Friday night; and
1.5WHEREAS, Minnesotans are active, engaged, and interested in preserving and promoting
1.6transparency in government, and the media is an essential component of ensuring transparency in
1.7public affairs and in bringing vital information to the people of Minnesota; and
1.8WHEREAS, Brendan Henehan, as the co-creator of Almanac, has produced more than 1,765
1.9episodes of Almanac and created more than 1,500 Minnesota history quiz questions; and
1.10WHEREAS, Brendan produced his first televised political debate in 1984; and
1.11WHEREAS, Brendan has produced more statewide political debates than any other
1.12Minnesotan, from United States Senate races to governor's races to mayoral and city council races;
1.13and
1.14WHEREAS, Brendan is retiring from his illustrious career in producing meaningful public
1.15affairs television for the state of Minnesota and will produce his final episode of Almanac on Friday,
1.16May 12, 2023; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates Brendan Henehan on his distinguished career and thanks him for his service to
1.19Minnesota.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Brendan Henehan.
