1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the memory of William M. (Bill) Shegstad.
1.3WHEREAS, William M. (Bill) Shegstad was born in Minneapolis on January 11, 1947,
1.4graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965, and married his sweetheart Barbara in 1966; and
1.5WHEREAS, Bill dutifully served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and
1.6was heavily involved in the Tet Offensive; and
1.7WHEREAS, Bill continued his service in the Army Reserves. He retired as a supervisor
1.8from the Minnesota Department of Transportation where he worked for 31 years; and
1.9WHEREAS, on November 30, 2021, Bill peacefully passed through the gates of heaven
1.10while surrounded by Barbara and their three daughters. He will be greatly missed and he was greatly
1.11loved; and
1.12WHEREAS, Bill is survived by Barbara, his wife of 55 years; daughters Terri (Chris)
1.13Peterson, Janelle (Daniel) Tepper, and Danielle (Brett) Lee; six grandchildren; and eight
1.14great-grandchildren; and
1.15WHEREAS, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Lois Shegstad, and brothers
1.16Jimmy and David; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18honors the memory of William M. (Bill) Shegstad and extends its deepest sympathies to his family
1.19and friends.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of William
1.23M. (Bill) Shegstad.
