1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Big Lake High School girls gymnastics team on winning the 2023
1.3State High School Class A girls gymnastics championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Big Lake gymnastics team participated in the 2023 State High School Class
1.7A girls gymnastics meet at Roy Wilkins Auditorium on February 24, 2023; and
1.8WHEREAS, the top-ranked Hornets, with scores of 37.725 on the floor, 37.075 on the vault,
1.935.800 on the uneven bars, and 37.050 on the balance beam, defeated the second-place Detroit
1.10Lakes Lakers 147.650-146.150 in an exciting and highly competitive finish to win the state
1.11championship; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Hornets won their second state gymnastics championship in the last four
1.13years and fourth overall; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.15congratulations are extended to the members of the Big Lake High School girls gymnastics team
1.16for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Big
1.20Lake High School.
