1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing Carlos Creek Winery on receiving the 2016 Alexandria Business
1.3and Industrial Appreciation Award.
1.4WHEREAS, the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and the Alexandria Area
1.5Economic Development Commission has bestowed the Alexandria Business and Industrial
1.6Appreciation Award to one business every year since 1984; and
1.7WHEREAS, Carlos Creek Winery, along with its employees, is a growing, caring, and
1.8successful professional winery committed to excellence and growth for the Alexandria Area
1.9community; and
1.10WHEREAS, a history of growth and organizational development by the Carlos Creek Winery
1.11team, including growth in facilities, products, services, and the number of team members, has
1.12contributed to the economic well-being of the citizens of Alexandria and the surrounding area and
1.13made the community more attractive; and
1.14WHEREAS, the expansion of Carlos Creek Winery's facilities, which includes doubling the
1.15number of employees, tripling square footage, and increasing wine production times five since
1.162009, has led to a payment of a living wage with growth and expansion, and has created a ripple
1.17effect of economic activity in terms of wages paid, support industries utilized, and
1.18employee/consumer purchasing power throughout the community and west central Minnesota; and
1.19WHEREAS, the Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission and the Alexandria
1.20Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce are recognizing Carlos Creek Winery for significant investment
1.21and involvement in the Alexandria area in the creation of jobs, wages, and wealth, and support of
1.22organizations and initiatives throughout west central Minnesota and to the entire state of Minnesota;
1.23and
1.24WHEREAS, Carlos Creek Winery will receive the award at the Business and Industrial
1.25Appreciation Day luncheon, which will take place on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the Arrowwood
1.26Resort and Conference Center in Alexandria; and
1.27NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.28recognizes and congratulates Carlos Creek Winery for its significant investment and involvement
1.29in the Alexandria area, the west central region, and to the entire state of Minnesota.
1.30BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.31enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.32Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the leadership of Carlos
1.33Creek Winery.
