1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring S&L Team Cleaning of St. Paul on their hiring efforts.
1.3WHEREAS, S&L Team Cleaning, a women- and minority-owned company based in St.
1.4Paul, has been in the house and commercial cleaning business since 1980. Owner Mitchell Lallier
1.5has been in the business for more than 40 years and Ninoska Salinas Lallier is the company's CFO
1.6and President; and
1.7WHEREAS, S&L Team Cleaning cleans more than a million square feet a day in the
1.8metropolitan area, including federal, state, county, and city offices; libraries; government centers;
1.9fire departments; water departments; medical buildings; sports centers; and Target Field Station;
1.10and
1.11WHEREAS, S&L Team Cleaning is very proud of the make-up of their work force. Thirty
1.12percent of their cleaners are persons with a disability and 78 percent are people of color; and
1.13WHEREAS, S&L Team Cleaning's first call when they get a new contract is to the
1.14Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Minnesota Job Service to
1.15see if they can hire a person with a disability, homeless person, veteran, or other adults who have
1.16been unsuccessful in finding employment due to systemic barriers; and
1.17WHEREAS, in 2017, Commissioner of Labor and Industry Ken Peterson, Senator John
1.18Hoffman, and Congresswomen Betty McCollum's office came to the company's recognition program
1.19to support the work S&L Team Cleaning does in hiring and training persons that are looking for a
1.20chance to enhance their lives and promote inclusion of those that have historically been excluded
1.21from the workforce; and
1.22WHEREAS, in 2019, DEED Commissioner Steve Grove honored S&L Team Cleaning and
1.2319 other companies at an Employers Hiring People with Disabilities Month event for their
1.24accomplishments in hiring and training persons with disabilities; and
2.1NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
2.2recognizes the outstanding efforts of S&L Team Cleaning to employ people who have been left
2.3out of the work force and recognizes their work to find employment for individuals left behind.
2.4BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.5enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.6Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to S&L Team Cleaning.
