1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending Greg Hubinger for 42 years of service with the State of
1.3Minnesota.
1.4WHEREAS, Greg Hubinger earned his bachelor's degree in political science and Spanish
1.5from Concordia College and his master's degree in Public Affairs from the Humphrey
School of
1.6Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota; and
1.7WHEREAS, Greg began working for the State of Minnesota in 1978 serving as the Housing
1.8Development Officer for the Housing Finance Agency until 1981; and
1.9WHEREAS, he went on to serve as the Coordinator for the Department of Public Service
1.10from 1981 to 1982, the Manager of Residential Programs from 1982 to 1986, and the
Manager of
1.11Conservation Programs from 1986 to 1987; and
1.12WHEREAS, Greg then served as the Director of the Subcommittee of Employee Relations
1.13from 1987 to 1997 and finally the Director of the Coordinating Commission from 1997
until his
1.14retirement in 2020; and
1.15WHEREAS, Greg has won numerous awards and accolades for his outstanding work,
1.16including from the Sustainable Resources Center in recognition of his leadership to
promote healthy
1.17homes and families in 2005, Exemplary Access Recognition of the Legislative Coordination
1.18Commission from the Commission of Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans
in 2009,
1.19and the 2017 Notable Document Award from the National Conference of State Legislatures
and
1.20the Legislative Research Librarians Staff Section in recognition of the publication:
Report of the
1.21Legislative Salary Council; and
1.22WHEREAS, Greg has worked with the executive and legislative branch to develop what
1.23will forever be referred to as the "Hubinger Number" to measure the impact of labor
contracts on
1.24the state budget, and his nonpartisan, well-respected professional service to the
state is recognized
1.25across the legislature and all branches and sectors of government, as is reflected
in what is referred
1.26to in the Governor's Office as the "Hubinger Letter"; and
1.27WHEREAS, Greg has volunteered extensively in the community, serving as a chair member
1.28for the Sustainable Resources Center in Minneapolis, Expo Elementary School in St.
Paul, First
1.29Congressional Church of Minnesota, and White Bear Public Lake Public Schools;
NOW,
1.30THEREFORE,
1.31BE IT RESOLVED by the Committee on Rules and Legislative Administration of the House
1.32of Representatives of the State of Minnesota that it commends Greg Hubinger for 42
years of service
1.33and extends appreciation for his contributions to legislative work.
