1.2recognizing the sesquicentennial of the city of
1.3Rushford.

1.5WHEREAS, our state is enriched by the presence of those
1.6communities that have withstood the test of time; and
1.7WHEREAS, the city of Rushford was founded December 24,
1.81854, by east coast adventurers who pole-boated up the Root
1.9River from the Mississippi at La Crosse, Wisconsin; and
1.10WHEREAS, the railroad made the city an early center of
1.11commerce, water and rail travel, manufacturing, and agriculture
1.12and has always been know for vision, industriousness, and
1.13achievement; and
1.14WHEREAS, a celebration will be held July 13-17, 2005, in
1.15recognition of this milestone event; NOW, THEREFORE,
1.16BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.17it recognizes the sesquicentennial of the city of Rushford.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
1.19directed to prepare an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be
1.20authenticated by his signature and that of the Senate Majority
1.21Leader, and transmit it to the mayor of the city of Rushford.
