  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to local government; increasing the per diem 
  1.3             reimbursement for members of the Minnesota municipal 
  1.4             board; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 
  1.5             414.01, subdivision 6a. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 414.01, 
  1.8   subdivision 6a, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6a.  [PER DIEM; EXPENSES.] Each member of the 
  1.10  municipal board shall receive $50 $150 per day when in 
  1.11  attendance at board meetings or hearings, or when otherwise 
  1.12  engaged in the performance of duties.  The county commissioners 
  1.13  shall be paid $25 $75 per day for each hearing or meeting 
  1.14  attended.  The county auditors and commissioners shall be deemed 
  1.15  to be performing duties for the county without additional 
  1.16  compensation when serving as ex officio members of the board.  
  1.17  Each member of the board and the county commission members of 
  1.18  the board shall be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in 
  1.19  accordance with state travel regulations.
