1.1 A resolution 1.2 memorializing the New Hampshire House of 1.3 Representatives to take appropriate action against 1.4 Representative Tom Alciere. 1.5 1.6 WHEREAS, the people of Minnesota as represented by their 1.7 Legislature find that peace officers have an extraordinarily 1.8 difficult task in striking a balance between aggressive law 1.9 enforcement and the protection of individual rights, that being 1.10 a peace officer is a noble and dangerous profession, that the 1.11 overwhelming majority of peace officers perform their duties in 1.12 a conscientious and heroic manner, and that peace officers 1.13 deserve the utmost gratitude from the citizens of the United 1.14 States for their service and sacrifices; and 1.15 WHEREAS, New Hampshire State Representative Tom Alciere has 1.16 made certain reckless and reprehensible statements about peace 1.17 officers; and 1.18 WHEREAS, that while the people of the State of Minnesota as 1.19 represented by their Legislature recognize and respect the 1.20 fundamental right of individuals to engage in free speech and 1.21 further recognize the right of a sister state's legislature to 1.22 govern its own affairs, the statements of Mr. Alciere must be 1.23 properly addressed. 1.24 BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota 1.25 that the New Hampshire House of Representatives should swiftly 2.1 take appropriate action to respond to the statements of 2.2 Representative Tom Alciere. 2.3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of State of the 2.4 State of Minnesota is directed to prepare copies of this 2.5 memorial and transmit them to the Speaker and Clerk of the New 2.6 Hampshire House of Representatives.
