  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; changing grain buyers' 
  1.3             license fees; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, 
  1.4             section 223.17, subdivision 3. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 223.17, 
  1.7   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 3.  [GRAIN BUYERS AND STORAGE FUND; FEES.] The 
  1.9   commissioner shall set the fees for inspections under sections 
  1.10  223.15 to 223.22 at levels necessary to pay the expenses of 
  1.11  administering and enforcing sections 223.15 to 223.22.  These 
  1.12  fees may be adjusted pursuant to the provisions of section 
  1.13  16A.1285.  
  1.14     The fee for any license issued or renewed prior to June 30, 
  1.15  1984, is $100.  The fee for any license issued or renewed after 
  1.16  June 30, 1984 1997, shall be set according to the following 
  1.17  schedule: 
  1.18     (a) $100 plus $50 $100 for each additional location for 
  1.19  grain buyers whose gross annual purchases are less than 
  1.20  $1,500,000 $100,000; 
  1.21     (b) $200 plus $50 $100 for each additional location for 
  1.22  grain buyers whose gross annual purchases are at least 
  1.23  $1,500,000 $100,000, but not more than $3,000,000 $750,000; 
  1.24  and 
  1.25     (c) $300 plus $50 $100 for each additional location for 
  2.1   grain buyers whose gross annual purchases are more than 
  2.2   $3,000,000. $750,000 but not more than $1,500,000; 
  2.3      (d) $400 plus $100 for each additional location for grain 
  2.4   buyers whose gross annual purchases are more than $1,500,000 but 
  2.5   not more than $3,000,000; and 
  2.6      (e) $500 plus $100 for each additional location for grain 
  2.7   buyers whose gross annual purchases are more than $3,000,000.  
  2.8      There is created in the state treasury the grain buyers and 
  2.9   storage fund.  Money collected pursuant to sections 223.15 to 
  2.10  223.19 shall be paid into the state treasury and credited to the 
  2.11  grain buyers and storage fund and is appropriated to the 
  2.12  commissioner for the administration and enforcement of sections 
  2.13  223.15 to 223.22.
