A bill for an act
relating to education finance; authorizing the commissioner of education to waive
the General Education Development (GED) test fee under certain circumstances;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 124D.55.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 124D.55, is amended to read:


124D.55 GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT (GED) TEST FEES.

(a) The commissioner shall pay 60 percent of the fee that is charged to an eligible
individual for the full battery of a general education development (GED) test, but not more
than $20 for an eligible individual except as provided in paragraph (b).

(b) The commissioner may waive the fee for an eligible individual who is homeless
or precariously housed.

EFFECTIVE DATE.

This section is effective July 1, 2007.
