  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing the sale of state 
  1.3             land to town of Mahtowa. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [CONVEYANCE OF LAND TO TOWN OF MAHTOWA.] 
  1.6      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 85.015 and 
  1.7   94.09 to 94.16, the commissioner of natural resources shall 
  1.8   convey the land described in paragraph (c) to the town of 
  1.9   Mahtowa for no consideration. 
  1.10     (b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the 
  1.11  attorney general and must provide that the land, and any 
  1.12  improvements on the land, revert to the state if the property 
  1.13  ceases to be used for the purposes described in paragraph (d). 
  1.14     (c) The land to be conveyed is a parcel of approximately 
  1.15  1.7 acres located in Carlton county and is described as: 
  1.16     That part of the former Burlington Northern railroad 
  1.17  right-of-way located in the Northwest Quarter of Section 9, 
  1.18  Township 47 North, Range 18 West described as:  commencing at 
  1.19  the northeast corner of said Northwest Quarter; thence on an 
  1.20  assumed bearing of South 89 degrees 56 minutes West, along the 
  1.21  north line of said Northwest Quarter, a distance of 677.51 feet 
  1.22  to the intersection with the northerly extension of the westerly 
  1.23  line of State Road (A.K. as 1st Street) according to the 
  1.24  recorded plat of NEW MAHTOWA; thence South 31 degrees 22 minutes 
  2.1   45 seconds West, along last said northerly extension of the 
  2.2   westerly line of State Road, a distance of 58.61 feet to the 
  2.3   point of intersection with a line parallel with and 50.00 feet 
  2.4   south of said north line of the Northwest Quarter, said point of 
  2.5   intersection being the actual point of beginning of the tract of 
  2.6   land herein described; thence continuing South 31 degrees 22 
  2.7   minutes 45 seconds West, along said westerly line of State Road, 
  2.8   a distance of 1445.73 feet to a line parallel with and distant 
  2.9   50.00 feet northeasterly of (as measured at right angle to) the 
  2.10  existing centerline of a public road; thence North 55 degrees 38 
  2.11  minutes 29 seconds West, along last described parallel line, a 
  2.12  distance of 69.51 feet to a line parallel with and distant 40.00 
  2.13  feet southeasterly of (as measured at right angles to) the 
  2.14  former main line centerline of said Burlington Northern 
  2.15  Railroad; thence North 32 degrees 47 minutes 30 seconds East, 
  2.16  along last described parallel line, a distance of 1421.53 feet 
  2.17  to said line 50.00 feet south of and parallel with the north 
  2.18  line of the Northwest Quarter; thence North 89 degrees 56 
  2.19  minutes, along last said parallel line, a distance of 40.29 feet 
  2.20  to the point of beginning. 
  2.21     (d) The town of Mahtowa intends to use the land for a 
  2.22  public septic system.
