A bill for an act
relating to education; appropriating money for school system videos.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.

Subdivision 1.

Department of Education.

The sum indicated in this section is
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal year
designated.

Subd. 2.

School system videos.

(a) For a grant to Cultural Connections:

(b) The grant recipient must use grant funds to provide at least 320 public middle and
high schools with videos explaining our school system at a very basic level for immigrant
parents to narrow the knowledge and achievement gaps for students through parental
involvement, accelerate integration, and promote student success.

(c) The grant recipient must provide videos translated into the immigrant parent's first
language and provide instructions for distribution to each secondary school receiving the
videos.

(d) This is a onetime appropriation.
