A bill for an act
relating to education; prohibiting instructional materials with sexually explicit
images; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 120B.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) A school district or charter school must not provide a student a book or instructional
material that includes sexually explicit content, or access to a book or instructional material
that includes sexually explicit content unless:

(1) the book or instructional material is provided as part of age-appropriate instruction
on sex education; and

(2) a student's parent, for a student who is a minor, or an adult student gives written
permission for the student to be provided or have access to the book or instructional material
containing sexually explicit content.

(b) As used in this section, "sexually explicit content" includes sexually explicit images
and sexually explicit language.
