A bill for an act
 relating to transportation; appropriating money for traffic safety public education
programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of public safety for public education programs related to traffic safety, including but not
limited to the dangers of illegally passing on the shoulder of a roadway. The education
programs must include, as appropriate, messages on electronic billboards, outreach at public
schools, and media advertisements. This appropriation may be used for additional State
Patrol enforcement in high accident areas. This is a onetime appropriation and is available
until June 30, 2026.
