relating to capital investment; appropriating money for a pilot project to improve
water quality.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PILOT PROJECT TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
agriculture for a grant to the ....... County Soil and Water Conservation District for a
three-year conservation drainage pilot project to test the phosphorus and nitrogen reduction
in farm land runoff collected in drain tile by utilizing a new flow through, nonchemical
technology that improves water quality. The ....... Soil and Water Conservation District shall
contract with one or more vendors to develop a drainage basin phosphorus reduction plan
and for the pilot project services and baseline and ongoing testing to determine the efficacy
of the installed technology. This appropriation is available until December 31, 2026.
