relating to taxation; property; requiring counties to abate penalties for late payment
of property taxes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin 2020 PROPERTY TAXES; ABATEMENT OF PENALTY.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 279.01, or any other law to the contrary,
for property taxes payable in 2020 only, penalties for late payment of property taxes shall
not be imposed if all taxes are paid in full by December 31, 2020. If all taxes are not paid
in full by December 31, 2020, a penalty of two percent shall be charged on the amount of
any unpaid tax.
