A bill for an act
relating to higher education; requiring Minnesota State Colleges and Universities
to establish an associate degree in applied science transfer pathway; requiring a
report; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 135A.08, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 135A.08, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin The Board of Trustees of
the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities must include an associate degree in applied
science as an approved transfer pathway associate degree for the purposes of the board's
transfer pathways policy. This requirement is in addition to the associate degrees required
under Laws 2014, chapter 312, article 1, section 12.

Sec. 2. new text begin REPORT ON APPLIED SCIENCE TRANSFER PATHWAYS.

new text begin By March 15, 2021, the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and
Universities must submit to the legislative committees with jurisdiction over higher education
policy a report that details the board's progress toward including an associate degree in
applied science as an approved transfer pathway associate degree. The report must
additionally describe any further actions needed to fully implement the policy.
