A bill for an act
relating to the State Building Code; amending the State Building Code to require
certain electric vehicle charging infrastructure; amending Minnesota Statutes 2023
Supplement, section 326B.106, subdivision 16.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2023 Supplement, section 326B.106, subdivision 16, is
amended to read:


Subd. 16.

Electric vehicle charging.

The code shall require a minimum number of
electric vehicle ready spaces, electric vehicle capable spaces, and electric vehicle charging
stations either within or adjacent to new commercial and multifamily structures that provide
on-site parking facilities. deleted text begin Residential structures with fewer than four dwelling units are
exempt from this subdivision.

that provide on-site parking shall be required by the code to provide not less than one
electric-vehicle-capable space per dwelling unit or parking space, whichever is less.
