A bill for an act
relating to public safety; establishing when vehicle is involved in collision for
purposes of investigation and reporting; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section
169.09, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 169.09, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin For purposes of subdivisions 1 to 6, a driver is involved in a
collision if, regardless of fault:

new text begin (1) the driver's vehicle makes contact with a person or vehicle, any obstruction on the
roadway, or any object adjacent to or off of the roadway; or

new text begin (2) as a result of taking action to avoid making contact with the driver's vehicle, a vehicle
driven by another makes contact with a person or vehicle, any obstruction on the roadway,
or any object adjacent to or off of the roadway.
