A bill for an act
relating to transportation; specifying limit on use of trunk highway fund for historic
state bridge projects; appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 161.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the commissioner must not expend from
the trunk highway fund more than 75 percent of the state share of the project cost for
maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, or reconstruction of a historic bridge on the state highway
system. The remainder of the state share of the project cost must be expended from the
general fund.

new text begin (b) As part of each biennial budget submission to the legislature, the commissioner must:

new text begin (1) specify the historic bridge projects on the state highway system that are likely to be
funded within that biennium; and
new text end

new text begin (2) request the general fund appropriation necessary for the bridge projects in accordance
with paragraph (a).

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
transportation for maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, or reconstruction of historic bridges
on the state highway system. This is a onetime appropriation.
