A bill for an act
relating to the environment; requiring a study on state strategies to respond to
global climate change.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE; STUDY TO DETERMINE
MINNESOTA IMPACT AND RESPONSE STRATEGIES.

new text begin Global climate change may have profound effects on Minnesota's public health,
natural resources, tourism, logging and other industries, demands on public infrastructure,
and other matters of public concern. The Pollution Control Agency shall, in cooperation
with other state and local government agencies, study the effect of global climate change
on these and other matters that the agency determines are significant. The agency shall
submit a report on the results of the study, along with any legislative recommendations, to
the legislature by February 1, 2009. The agency shall seek public input on the study and
shall create a stakeholder group of relevant public and private experts, including experts
from state higher education institutions, to advise the agency on the study.
