A bill for an act
relating to state government; prohibiting constitutional officers from holding
other positions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 10.37.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 10.37, is amended to read:


10.37 HOLDING TWO APPOINTIVE OFFICES.

Any appointive state office which the law provides shall be filled by the governor
may be held by a person already holding a state office and such person may hold both
such offices and perform the functions and duties thereof; but such person shall receive
only the salary by law provided for the office first held.new text begin However, the governor, lieutenant
governor, attorney general, secretary of state, or state auditor may not hold any other
state office or state employment, unless a law specifically names one of these officials to
hold another state office.
