A bill for an act
relating to human services; modifying medical assistance coverage to include
consultations with psychologists and advanced practice registered nurses;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 256B.0625, subdivision 48.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 256B.0625, subdivision 48, is amended to
read:


Subd. 48.

Psychiatric consultation to primary care practitioners.

psychologist, or an advanced practice registered nurse certified in psychiatric mental
health
new text end via telephone, e-mail, facsimile, or other means of communication to primary care
practitioners, including pediatricians. The need for consultation and the receipt of the
consultation must be documented in the patient record maintained by the primary care
practitioner. If the patient consents, and subject to federal limitations and data privacy
provisions, the consultation may be provided without the patient present.
