  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to metropolitan government; requiring 
  1.3             metropolitan council to report on the future of the 
  1.4             metro mobility transit system. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [REPORT; METRO MOBILITY.] 
  1.7      The metropolitan council shall report to the chairs of the 
  1.8   senate and house of representatives committees having 
  1.9   jurisdiction over transportation policy and transportation 
  1.10  finance on the future of the metro mobility paratransit system.  
  1.11  The report must include options, alternatives, and strategies 
  1.12  for: 
  1.13     (1) increasing the availability of metro mobility service 
  1.14  to meet present and anticipated demand; 
  1.15     (2) integrating metro mobility service into the new and 
  1.16  expanded transit services described in the council's regional 
  1.17  transit master plan; and 
  1.18     (3) integration of private taxi services to provide a more 
  1.19  efficient pick up and delivery system, and potential savings 
  1.20  from doing so. 
  1.21  The council must submit the report by December 1, 2000.
