A bill for an act
relating to workers' compensation; providing for disability payments to an
employee of a bomb squad.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PERMANENT TOTAL DISABILITY BENEFITS FOR BOMB
SQUAD EMPLOYEES.

new text begin The employer or former employer of a public employee who was injured in February
2005 while working on a bomb squad must pay the person permanent total disability
benefits under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 176, equal to 66-2/3 percent of the employee's
daily wage at the time of the injury, subject to a maximum weekly compensation equal
to the maximum weekly compensation for a temporary total disability and a minimum
weekly compensation equal to 65 percent of the statewide average weekly wage. The
employer or former employer must not reduce these benefits by the amount of any
disability benefits being paid by any government disability benefit program.
