  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to child care; providing funding for basic 
  1.3             sliding fee child care assistance; transferring TANF 
  1.4             funds to the department of children, families, and 
  1.5             learning; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [TANF APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.8      $35,000,000 for fiscal year 2001 is appropriated to the 
  1.9   commissioner of human services from the federal Temporary 
  1.10  Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant funds 
  1.11  authorized under United States Code, title 42, section 601, and 
  1.12  awarded in federal fiscal year 2000, and is transferred to the 
  1.13  department of children, families, and learning for child care 
  1.14  assistance under Minnesota Statutes, section 119B.03.  The TANF 
  1.15  funds must be used for the basic sliding fee child care 
  1.16  assistance program to provide assistance for families with 
  1.17  incomes below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
