  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; appropriating money for 
  1.3             the veterans nursing homes board; transferring a 
  1.4             certain appropriation; appropriating a potential 
  1.5             settlement amount; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [VETERANS NURSING HOMES BOARD FUNDING.] 
  1.8      (a) $200,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.9   veterans nursing homes board for fiscal year 2003 for an 
  1.10  anticipated deficiency in the board's operations. 
  1.11     (b) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 16B.31, 
  1.12  subdivision 7, on July 1, 2002, the commissioner of 
  1.13  administration shall transfer to the veterans nursing homes 
  1.14  board any remaining portion of the payments received from 
  1.15  contractors for the mold damage at the Luverne facility. 
  1.16     (c) Notwithstanding the provisions of Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.17  section 16A.151, any payments made during fiscal year 2003 from 
  1.18  contractors to settle legal issues regarding the mold damage at 
  1.19  the Luverne facility are appropriated to the veterans nursing 
  1.20  homes board. 
  1.21     (d) Total appropriations to the veterans nursing homes 
  1.22  board under this section shall not exceed $1,400,000.
