relating to public safety; providing bonus payments to peace officers; appropriating
money.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; BONUS PAYMENTS TO PEACE OFFICERS.

$....... in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the Peace Officer
Standards and Training Board to distribute a onetime bonus payment of $1,500 to each
peace officer, as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 626.84, subdivision 1, who is
employed as of July 1, 2022. The board may use up to 3.5 percent of this appropriation for
administrative expenses related to making the payments.
