  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing the private sale 
  1.3             of certain surplus land that borders public water in 
  1.4             Red Lake county. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PRIVATE SALE OF SURPLUS LAND; RED LAKE 
  1.7   COUNTY.] 
  1.8      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45, 
  1.9   94.09, and 94.10, the commissioner of natural resources may sell 
  1.10  by private sale to the adjacent land owner, for a consideration 
  1.11  equal to the appraised value, the surplus land bordering public 
  1.12  water that is described in paragraph (c), under the remaining 
  1.13  provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 94. 
  1.14     (b) The conveyance shall be in a form approved by the 
  1.15  attorney general. 
  1.16     (c) The land that may be sold is located in Red Lake 
  1.17  county, consists of about 50 acres, and is described as follows: 
  1.18     (1) Government lot 5, section 25, Township 152 North, Range 
  1.19  40 West; 
  1.20     (2) Government lot 7, section 25, Township 152 North, Range 
  1.21  40 West. 
  1.22     (d) The commissioner has determined that the land is no 
  1.23  longer needed for any natural resource purpose and that the 
  1.24  state's land management interests would best be served if the 
  1.25  land was returned to private ownership. 
  2.1      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.2      Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
