A bill for an act
relating to education; appropriating money for the Summit Academy OIC 100
hard hats program to provide scholarships for students seeking to learn the
construction trades.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $350,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2007 from the general fund to the
commissioner of education for a grant for the Summit Academy OIC 100 hard hats
program that trains and places students in high-demand construction jobs. This grant shall
fund operating expenses to train 100 additional students annually, including need-based
scholarships predominantly for women and students of color, in preapprentice carpentry,
plumbing, painting, and electrical trades.
