  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; providing funding for farm 
  1.3             relief; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES 
  1.6   RURAL LIFE SUPPORT.] 
  1.7      $1,628,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   board of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.9   universities for a rural life support program.  Of this amount, 
  1.10  $400,000 is for four farm support centers to provide counseling 
  1.11  support to farm families and business operators; $900,000 is for 
  1.12  scholarships of up to $450 per farmer for tuition at state 
  1.13  colleges and universities; and $268,000 is for staff training, 
  1.14  material, and recruitment costs.  This appropriation is a 
  1.15  one-time appropriation and is available until June 30, 2001.
