  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to child care; modifying self-employment 
  1.3             eligibility for basic sliding fee child care; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 119B.10, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 119B.10, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3.  [SELF-EMPLOYMENT EXCEPTION.] For assistance under 
  1.10  section 119B.03, a caregiver who has a business plan for 
  1.11  self-employment is exempt for up to 24 months from the minimum 
  1.12  wage requirements under subdivision 1, paragraph (d), clause 
  1.13  (1).  The caretaker must demonstrate that the business plan has 
  1.14  been developed and reviewed by an organization that specializes 
  1.15  in business assistance including, but not limited to, a 
  1.16  community development corporation, a small business assistance 
  1.17  center, or an organization affiliated with the Minnesota Micro 
  1.18  Enterprise Association.  The caregiver must meet all other 
  1.19  eligibility requirements for assistance under the basic sliding 
  1.20  fee program.
