  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor vehicles; requiring same titling 
  1.3             standard for motorcycle with new engine as similarly 
  1.4             situated automobile; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, 
  1.5             section 168A.15, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 168A.15, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4.  [MOTORCYCLE WITH NEW ENGINE.] (a) If the 
  1.10  commissioner does not require that a new or amended title be 
  1.11  issued and stamped as reconstructed or otherwise under this 
  1.12  chapter for an automobile being operated with an engine that is 
  1.13  not its original engine, then the commissioner shall not require 
  1.14  that title issued for a motorcycle being operated with an engine 
  1.15  that is not its original engine be stamped or otherwise labeled 
  1.16  as reconstructed or otherwise.  
  1.17     (b) This subdivision does not prevent the commissioner from 
  1.18  requiring that a new application be completed according to 
  1.19  section 168A.04 and be filed with the commissioner.  Upon 
  1.20  receipt of the completed application and the old title, the 
  1.21  commissioner shall issue another certificate of title, which 
  1.22  must list the engine number, for the motorcycle with the 
  1.23  nonoriginal engine.
