  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to corrections; excluding education costs 
  1.3             from per diem costs charged to participating counties 
  1.4             under the Community Corrections Act; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 401.13. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 
  1.8   401.13, is amended to read: 
  1.9      401.13 [CHARGES MADE TO COUNTIES.] 
  1.10     Each participating county will be charged a sum equal to 
  1.11  the actual per diem cost of confinement, excluding education 
  1.12  costs, of those juveniles committed to the commissioner and 
  1.13  confined in a state correctional facility.  The commissioner 
  1.14  shall annually determine costs making necessary adjustments to 
  1.15  reflect the actual costs of confinement.  The commissioner of 
  1.16  corrections shall bill the counties and deposit the receipts 
  1.17  from the counties in the general fund.  All charges shall be a 
  1.18  charge upon the county of commitment.
