  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing public sale of 
  1.3             school trust land bordering public water. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [PUBLIC SALE OF SCHOOL TRUST LAND BORDERING 
  1.6   PUBLIC WATER; ST. LOUIS COUNTY.] 
  1.7      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 92.45, the 
  1.8   commissioner of natural resources may sell by public sale the 
  1.9   school trust land bordering public water that is described in 
  1.10  paragraph (c). 
  1.11     (b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the 
  1.12  attorney general for consideration no less than the appraised 
  1.13  value of the land.  The conveyance must include an easement to 
  1.14  ensure public access and state management access to the 
  1.15  state-owned land on the north side of Blueberry lake.  The 
  1.16  attorney general may make necessary changes in the legal 
  1.17  description to correct errors and ensure accuracy. 
  1.18     (c) The land to be sold is located in St. Louis county and 
  1.19  is approximately three acres adjacent to Blueberry lake in the 
  1.20  northeast corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast 
  1.21  Quarter, Section 4, Township 61 North, Range 12 West. 
  1.22     (d) The commissioner has determined that the land is no 
  1.23  longer needed for any natural resource purpose and that the 
  1.24  state's land management interests would best be served if the 
  2.1   land was returned to private ownership.  The adjoining private 
  2.2   owner has inadvertently built part of a home, a septic system, 
  2.3   and yard improvements on the land.
