  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; requiring the commissioner 
  1.3             to develop proposals to provide respite care for 
  1.4             family adult foster care providers. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [RESPITE CARE FOR FAMILY ADULT FOSTER CARE 
  1.7   PROVIDERS.] 
  1.8      The commissioner of human services, in consultation with 
  1.9   affected groups, including counties, family adult foster care 
  1.10  providers, guardians and family members, and advocacy agencies, 
  1.11  shall develop legislative proposals, including cost projections, 
  1.12  to provide 30 days of respite care per year for family adult 
  1.13  foster care providers.  The proposals must include funding 
  1.14  options that rely upon federal and state funding.  The 
  1.15  commissioner shall provide the legislative proposals and cost 
  1.16  projections to the chairs of the house health and human services 
  1.17  policy committee, the house health and human services finance 
  1.18  committee, the senate health and family security policy 
  1.19  committee, and the senate health and family security budget 
  1.20  division, by December 1, 2000.
