1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to human services; clarifying the period of 1.3 eligibility for medical assistance for a child under 1.4 the age of 19; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, 1.5 section 256B.056, subdivision 7. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 256B.056, 1.8 subdivision 7, is amended to read: 1.9 Subd. 7. [PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY.] Eligibility is available 1.10 for the month of application and for three months prior to 1.11 application if the person was eligible in those prior months. A 1.12 redetermination of eligibility must occur every 12 months. A 1.13 child under 19 years of age who is determined to be eligible for 1.14 medical assistance shall remain eligible until the earlier of: 1.15 (1) the end of a 12-month period beginning the month after 1.16 the application is approved; 1.17 (2) when eligibility is reapproved; or 1.18 (3) when the child exceeds 19 years of age.
