  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to telecommunications; prohibiting toll 
  1.3             charges for intrastate long distance calls; proposing 
  1.4             coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 237. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [237.664] [INTRASTATE LONG DISTANCE CHARGES.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding any law, rule, or order to the contrary, no 
  1.8   provider of long distance service may charge a toll for long 
  1.9   distance telephone calls originating and terminating within the 
  1.10  state.  However, local exchange carriers may continue to charge 
  1.11  long distance telephone service providers for access to local 
  1.12  exchange networks for these calls.
