  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money to the 
  1.3             board of regents to expand legal assistance. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $250,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the board 
  1.7   of regents of the University of Minnesota in fiscal year 1999 
  1.8   for the law clinic programs in the law school.  The 
  1.9   appropriation must be used to increase the number of students 
  1.10  and faculty who participate in the clinics, expand support 
  1.11  services, and acquire supplies necessary to provide legal 
  1.12  services to a greater number of Minnesota citizens with limited 
  1.13  incomes.
