A bill for an act
relating to human services; providing nursing facilities with temporary energy
assistance grants; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 256B.434, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 256B.434, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin For the three-month period
beginning October 1, 2006, nursing facilities reimbursed under this section shall receive
an energy assistance grant to help cover the increased cost of energy for heating during the
winter. This energy assistance grant shall be provided in the form of an increase in each
case mix payment rate of $2. This rate increase is temporary and shall not be included in
rates, beginning January 1, 2007.
